~ About

CornerStone is the small restaurant with a big heart

Located in the friendly village of Genesee Depot, the CornerStone is a bistro-style restaurant that has been steadily gaining a reputation for the best casual food and service in southern Waukesha County.  Owners Chuck and Judy Knoernschild, long-time Mukwonago residents, opened the restaurant in February of 2005. Since then, the CornerStone has earned high regards for their warm, inviting atmosphere, large, diverse menu, and friendly, sincere service.

Open every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the CornerStone. The full breakfast menu includes Eggs Benedict and the popular Berry Nut French Toast. Enjoy a cup of Alterra coffee or cappuccino with a homemade muffin.  The large sandwich and salad menu, served 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., features something for everyone. The Portabella Chicken with sun-dried-tomato mayo, Pastrami Reuben, and Sirloin Steak Sandwich are always favorites. If you like comfort food, try the Pot Roast Melt. For vegetarians, the Grilled Mushroom or Vegetable Melt are nice selections. The large salads include the Salmon Salad and Baja Chicken.  Dinners are served 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and provide a wonderful selection of steaks, seafood, chicken, pasta and vegetarian dishes. Some favorites include the Parmesan-crusted New York Strip, Sunfire Ahi Tuna, Pesto-Vegetable Saute, Seafood Jambalaya, Fajitas and Chicken-Mushroom Alfredo.

No visit to the CornerStone is complete until you’ve made a dessert choice from one of the two bakery cases. The tempting selection of desserts, pies and cookies includes Carrot Cake, Peanut Butter Cheesecake, Espresso Cake with Warm Berries, Pecan Pie, Dutch Apple Pie, Bread Pudding, Lemon Bars and Chambord Truffles. Locally baked artisan breads and cookies are always available for take-home purchases.  The CornerStone offers a nice wine selection, available by the glass or bottle, plus many microbrews and import beers are offered as well as mixed drinks. For daily specials, don’t miss Mexican Thursdays with authentic Enchiladas, Chimichangas, Fajitas and Margarita specials.  The Friday Fish Fry is a local favorite, with Beer-Battered Cod and Perch or Baked Cod.

If you enjoy music, make reservations for CornerStone Music Nights. Currently, Daniel T., guitar and song, is featured on the first Saturday of the month, Mike Cambell, jazz piano, takes the stage on the second Saturday of the month and Traditional Irish Sessions puts on a lively performance the last Saturday of the month. And finally, keep the CornerStone in mind for your next party or catering need. The Crowd Cuisine menu offers many appetizer and sandwich selections. There will soon be a new holiday catering menu available for the upcoming entertaining season.

Judy and the CornerStone staff welcome you and hope to see you soon.
